Hi,
I was reading as a guest, many times, your sonata posts, cause the same motor.
Now, that i am LPG, i see many LPGs here also.
I was missing some months, as i had to fix the problem car.
I made an account here, to be able get more info, and if i can help with my knowledge also.
I was very, very disappointed after all the problems i got at once i came it's 3rd owner.
feeding problem

Catalyst blockage, removed with a temp pipe for a week, all metals inside removed, reinstalled

front tranmission mount needs exchange
http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i29/s ... 0_0559.jpg
http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i29/s ... /mount.jpg
and crankshaft pulley separate problem were finally the cause of all my problems.
http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i29/s ... 0_0354.jpg
After i fixed these things i can say after 4 years driving this car a lot, from 124.000km till today 163.000 km , that it seems to be problem free now.
I had lost my will for this Santamo, and i thought it was a bad construction of a good mitsubishi design.
The problem was that no one ever knew how to service right these cars.
no one put the special transmission oil and the special procedure for renewing timing-belt.
Now, i cross my fingers, i sold all my other cars, except toyota supra, and i use it a lot all day-night.
no problem.
Fuel consumption for 1997cc and car is not bad.
i get normal, easy driving, till 120 km / h no more, no more singing with gas pedal and i get 10 lt/100km consumption.
it's here takes me 450 km.
I never dare to press motor, as it's a very-very heavy car.
i still admire it's way of passing bad above-surface, and the good noise insulation.
The auto nevers gets more than 3000-3500 rpm, it wrks perfect now.
Finally, i hope it will keep working as a japanese car, as it should be.
The small dieseling noise is there at idle, which i think most of you have this noise.
I had uploaded some videos, to specify the noise, was damper pulley seperation.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I80hgqiS14I
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6P2GSTb-u4
So, really at 1500-3000rpm, the engine seems sluggish but no problem for me, just a transportation A to B car with no noise, good structure, good drive, good brakes, low (inside) noise.
On the end, i have to write this.
The mitsubishi space wagon of 1994 had a dashboard made of soft rubber-plastic material.
Santamo dashboards are 100% plastic, so all looks good from inside plastics way, but when you touch them, they have hard-touch. Door panels, real panels, everything is from cheap-cheap plastic.
what a pitty.
mitsubishi materials inside are 100% and i am sure, road noise is lower, when all internal materials are made of soft rubber-plastic material, i think also this caller ABS plastic.
Hyundai accent, of 1995 have this cheap quality of interior also.
bad point for a good chassis construction in my opinion.
But Santamo, has more strong coils, front -rear, than spacewagon.
i have searched all info about our motors. It's the G4CP-dohc with 102kW Which is a hyundai 90% copy of mitsu 4G63. Some parts are different, like oil pump front case and etc.
it's the 1st 16valve DOHC engine, designed for high output Which where, no low torque.
day now, 16valve motors are designed with very narrow and cams are made for getting full of low end torque.
Also it's a 6-Bolt motor, with no crankshaft pulley CPS. It has the combined CPS-CKP Crankshaft and Camshaft positions sensors in 1 device, on the head.
7-bolt motors have 2 sensors, 1 up 1 down.
Anyway , I am happy with it. I did it LPG nd everything works fine.
before LPG
http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i29/s ... 0_2354.jpg
http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i29/s ... 2363-1.jpg
after LPG
http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i29/s ... 0_3221.jpg
http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i29/s ... 0_3223.jpg
I am very careful with service history, I change oil at 12.000km full synth Castrol GTX magnatec 10W40. Also air filter every 10000 km, cause LPG needs very clean filter.
And spark plugs NGK original BCPR6ES-11, every 10000 km, as again LPG needs more current to produce ignition.
Thats a bit of my car story.

Welcome to Hyundaiclub.net Good to see someone not from CzechRep. especially if he has car like Santamo, there is a few active people with Santamo which could be helpfull in case of problems [Romox (he has Santamo 4x4) and Santamo99 (dont know exactly)], but Im not sure they can speak english Maybe google.translator can help
G4CP is pretty often in Sonata and Im not sure in first Coupes.
If you are looking for cheap diagnostic cable for Santamo, you can use EvoScan with 12-pin ALDL USB cable, we tested it on Romoxs car and it works fine (after all its a 90% Mitsubishi) and including SW it costs around 80 bucks
Sorry for my English, perhaps you will understand what I meant

welcome savvaske35!
while the first generation of coupe (tiburon) was equiped with 2.0 16V G4GF engine, I can't supply you any further information about the engine and powertrain.
The G4GF (beta engine) has been a very new engine designed for 1996 lantra / coupe, contrary to mitsubishi-designed G4CP in sonata and santamo. The G4GF together with its powertrain, however, seems to be much more reliable.
According to wikipedia, it's the Hyundai Sirius engine.

Re: 98 Hyundai Santamo 2.0 G4CP-DOHC 102 kw life with it
happy to meet you.
Well my motor is SIRIUS yes, it's a mitsubishi , and i heard that it is one of the motors that don't
have any problem with wear of valve seats by LPG.
Beta motor, is 100% hyundai, which i prefer more, I have a lot of friends with this 1.6 mostly motor, they never change oil, they took it for fun, but during time ALL OF THEME were impressed by the motor reliability.
But i heard that this beta motor is not good for LPG, as ford i heard also not good.
Anyway, most times, motor breaks before come to time to repair valve seats, most people do service errors, so make big damages.
Believe me, when i bought it , i though the motor would be a mitsu design but fixed by Hyndai designers and engineers.
My motor, knock on wood, its on top condition. But perfomance is sluggish for this kind of motor.
I get on a lantra 1.6 J-2 and i feel the torque and power up. I hope it's the weight of my car.
If i downhill a mountain, i feel much power.
I feel 105-115 hp max, no way 139 hp, sorry santamo.

I went to the page, so if you tested ok thats a reason to buy it. Good info.Yurii píše: If you are looking for cheap diagnostic cable for Santamo, you can use EvoScan with 12-pin ALDL USB cable, we tested it on Romoxs car and it works fine (after all its a 90% Mitsubishi) and including SW it costs around 80 bucks
As i understand, it has a CD installation, USB-to OBD-II like, and it works?
I 'll google evoscan what parameters i can see from laptop with this, it might also gives consumption, temps and others? or just error codes logging.

I bought it two years ago and I got cable and, Evoscan license number... link do download Evoscan software was sent to me by email.
Santamo uses MUTI or MUTII protocol, i think it does not have a speedo signal, so you cannot get consumption, but its limitation of car... Otherwise all temps and revs and other ECUs data you can read with it or make your own on display gauges on laptop On evoscan forums you can find Santamo like a Spacewagon for more info
We tested it on Romoxs Santa about year and half ago, an I dont remember all you can do with this. I think you can even reset ABS codes turbn off injectors and ofcourse log all datawhile driving, and thenyou can look at it in the warm home.
