What is this G-SENSOR about?

I have ABS or ABS with stability program?

I don't have the clear ABS logo on my dash, I have the logo showing



and with the combination of an existing G-sensor at the center console, under the hand-brake lever.



the below pic is of a subaru console that has also g-sensors i didn't opened my car but
according to VIN i have this g-sensor also.


Is this sensor for ABS? helping system system in detecting loads during deceleration?

I think G sensor helps to recover tire slipping while breaking. Im not sure that is necessary for all ABS systems, but a lot of cars got it

do not forget, that G-senzor are also necessary part of airbag systems - thing which give information to start explode airbags! But these senzor are located on front and sides of a car
